Analysis and Oversight

UVNS’s analytical tasks begin with continuous follow-up of the Agencies’ reports. UVNS controls the legality, effectiveness and usefulness of work, based on the reports received, as well as the harmonization of Agencies’ reports with laws and decisions which direct the work of the security and intelligence agencies.

UVNS, starting from the Agencies’ information, drafts joint and periodical analytical reports and strategic assessments, in cooperation with the Agencies, for the President of the Republic and the President of the Government of the Republic of Croatia.

Expert oversight of the work of the security and intelligence agencies and OTC is one of the key functions of UVNS. By means of oversight activities UVNS monitors and controls the legality of work of the above-mentioned institutions, the achievement of prescribed goals and scope of work, the effectiveness and usefulness of work, the application of measures of secret information gathering as well as the coordination and cooperation between security and intelligence agencies.

The results of oversight activities are delivered to the President of the Republic and the President of the Government and they enable the implementation of constitutional authorities from the field of national security.
